Anna Belle Illien founded Illien Adoptions International, Inc. in 1982 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit child welfare organization which has created permanent families for 3,000 legally abandoned homeless children from all over the world. She still serves as its Executive Director but has chosen to expand services to vulnerable children in every category worldwide by founding and serving as the Director of Foundation for Our Children, Inc. She has received numerous awards: Governor’s Award in the Arts from Governor Jimmy Carter in 1970; Angel in Adoption Award in 2012; Global Achievement Award in 2021 from Johns Hopkins Alumni Association and The President Joseph R. Biden Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022.
